Torrents are another way to share vods, I won't go too much into details about torrents in this section. If you want to know more about torrents, here is a short beginner's guide to torrents from google:
https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/free-torrent-guide/
There are several Torrent clients you could use. To name a few:
qBittorrent: https://www.qbittorrent.org/
Deluge: https://deluge-torrent.org/
Transmission: https://github.com/transmission/transmission
Here is a short list with a few trackers that you could use (you need to add a tracker to your torrent so people will be able to download/find your torrent):
If you want to download a torrent, you can do so by adding the .torrent file or by using a magnet link. In qBittorrent, you can do so by going to file ---> add torrent file. After that, it opens a popup window and you can choose the .torrent file:
If you want to use a magnet link instead, you can do so by going to file ---> add torrent link, which opens the following window:
Into this window, you paste the magnet link and click on download:
It will then add the torrent to your download list.
First of all, let me mention that you can't update a torrent after it was created. It's not a big deal if you just want to share a single VOD, but it's something to consider when you create a torrent of a bigger archive with several VODs. If you want to update or change anything on the torrent, you will have to recreate the whole torrent.
So to get to the point of how you create a torrent, after you open qBtittorrent, go to "Tools" and the click on 'Torrent Creator':
After you click on it, it opens the following window:
After that, you choose the file you want to share. Into the 'Tracker' field, you paste the tracker you want to use:
After that, you click on 'Create Torrent' and wait until it finishes. You should get a .torrent file that you can share with other people, so that they can access the torrent:
Alternatively, you can also share the magnet link. You can get it by right clicking on the torrent you just created, and on the dropdown menu, go down to copy -->magnet link. Here, you should get the magnet link:
Which will look like the following (the torrent link here cant be used, as I deleted it - I made this just to use as an example):
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:b29ca3284cb7a5b9d063d420d936f27752e96e0a&dn=2022-05-20%20-%20REDEBUT%20Day%20%20BIRTHDAY%20%20BIRTHDAY%20BASH%20COLLAB%2067%20PM%20CST.mp4&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.opentrackr.org%3a1337%2fannounce
You can then share this link with other people just like the .torrent file.
